COURSES

Our courses are recognised and accepted by employers and Universities nationally, but unlike other educational providers, we deliver learning in football-focused environments and tailor the course content to the football industry.

All courses operate full time, free of charge*, across all of our academies. Entry requirements are course-dependant, as detailed below.

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Sports Coaching

This qualification is suitable for post-16 students with an interest in sports coaching and development. During the first year of the programme,learners will study three units which combine theory and practical learning, equivalent to one A-Level.

Following successful completion of the first year, learners are offered a place on the second year of the programme to study a further three units, equivalent to an additional A-Level.

First year units are:

  • Careers in the Sport and Active Leisure Industry
  • Health, Wellbeing and Sport
  • Developing Coaching Skills

Entry Requirements: A minimum of a grade 2 English GCSE and grade 1 maths GCSE. Learners who have not achieved a grade 4 in maths or English, will be required to study and re-sit these GCSEs while on the programme.

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Foundation Diploma in Sports Coaching and Development

This qualification is suitable for post-16 students with an interest in sports coaching and development, particularly those aspiring to progress onto Higher Education Programmes. Learners will study six units over the year, which combine theory and practical learning, equivalent to 1.5 A-Levels.

Following successful completion of the first year, learners are offered a place on the second year of the programme, to study a further six units, equivalent to an additional 1.5 A-Levels.

First year units are:

  • Careers in the Sport and Active Leisure Industry
  • Health, Wellbeing and Sport
  • Developing Coaching Skills
  • Sport Development
  • Self-employment in Sport and Physical Activity
  • One chosen unit from a range of options that cover anatomy and physiology,officiatin,practial application, or event organising – all within the sports industry

Entry Requirements: : GCSE grades 4-9 or equivalent in maths and English.

*Academies may charge students for football training kit.

ON THE PITCH

We believe that playing the game to a high level, as well as learning about it in the classroom, will enhance student development.

As well as education, our courses also include six hours of football training per week, strength and conditioning sessions in the gym, and matches.

Students will line up against other Future Lions Education teams in our U19 Future Lions League, as well as against local teams in their region in both league and cup competitions, with opportunities to be scouted by clubs in the Premier League and English Football League.

EXCURSIONS

At Future Lions Education, we make sure students get a comprehensive football experience.

As well as studying and playing the game in an established football club environment, students will be taken on trips with their fellow team-mates across the UK and potentially abroad. Previous trip destinations have included Wembley Stadium, St. George’s Park (the state-of-the-art training centre for the England national team), and stadium tours, well as attending U23 matches through to UEFA Europa League games.
